Copyright & Content Policy
Ownership must stay clear: TravelChannel.co.za protects its platform and original work, while contributors keep ownership of the original photos and videos they submit.

TravelChannel.co.za material
Unless a credit or licence says otherwise, the TravelChannel.co.za name, branding, page design, written guides, databases and media created by TravelChannel.co.za are protected. They may not be copied, downloaded in bulk, republished, altered, sold or used commercially without written permission.
Contributor material
The creator retains copyright in their original contribution. The creator gives TravelChannel.co.za a non-exclusive licence to store, review and display an approved contribution in the service. Wider use on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or other selected channels depends on the contributor’s explicit upload choices. Credit does not transfer ownership.
What contributors must confirm
- The submission is their original work or they have documented authority from the rights holder.
- It was not copied, downloaded, screen-recorded or reposted from another creator without permission.
- They have required permission for identifiable people, music, recorded audio, artwork, private property or other protected material.
- Their declaration and account details are accurate, and they accept responsibility for reasonable claims or losses caused by an untrue declaration to the extent permitted by law.
TravelChannel.co.za does not accept responsibility for music or third-party material that a contributor falsely declares as authorised. We may reject, mute, remove or take down disputed material. This does not exclude any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Music and audio editing
When a contributor authorises social publishing, they also permit TravelChannel.co.za to mute or remove music or other audio where necessary to meet copyright, safety or platform requirements. Cropping, shortening, captioning or watermarking requires the separate editing permission offered during upload.
Partner, lodge and business apps
A lodge, reserve, tourism organisation, sponsor, town or other business does not become the creator or rights holder of a community submission merely because it is mentioned in the post or because the post appears in its branded or embedded TravelChannel app. The contributor remains responsible for the submission and their rights declaration. To the extent permitted by law, TravelChannel and the participating business do not accept responsibility for protected material that a contributor falsely declares as authorised.
If a participating business wants to download, edit, monetise or republish a contribution on its own website or social channels, that use requires separately recorded contributor permission. The business is responsible for its own publication and must preserve the agreed creator credit and permissions.
Sharing and embedding
Use the built-in Share function to link to the original post. Websites may use the official embed code where offered; embedding does not grant ownership or permission to download, remove credits, alter the media or republish the underlying file.
Third-party material
Some maps, links, property information and credited images come from third parties and remain subject to their own rights and licences. A TravelChannel.co.za page does not make that third-party material ours.
Protection, moderation and removal
We may use credits, watermarks, download deterrents and technical safeguards. These reduce casual copying but cannot make public media impossible to capture. TravelChannel.co.za may reject, hide or remove content at any time, including after publication, and may restrict accounts that repeatedly infringe rights. A participating business may require removal from its own branded app, website or channels. Removal does not transfer ownership, guarantee payment or create a right to publication elsewhere.
